Two buck eejits – who would buy one of these? Boke (and yes, I am a mother)

First came the ultrasound, then came the 3D scan – and now there’s an altogether more unsettling way to sneak a peek at your unborn child.

Expectant parents are being offered the chance to hold their baby before it is even born – with a 3D-printed replica of the foetus.

American couple Gerard and Katie Bessette are hoping their business, 3D Babies, will appeal to future parents.

They aim to create customised baby figurines with a special 3D printer, using the image from an ultrasound as a guide.

The couple say on their website: ‘Imagine holding your baby before he or she is born. At 3D Babies, we create an adorable baby figurine resembling your baby’s facial features and body position.

‘We use your 3D/4D ultrasound images or newborn baby pictures to create a unique artistic representation of your baby using the latest computer graphics and 3D printing technology.’
