A young woman is in hospital today undergoing an operation on her back after she was viciously assaulted by a man in a west Belfast take away after a night out.
The attack happened in the Turkish Kebab and Pizza House on the Andersonstown Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It is understood that there was a fight between a crowd of girls outside the take away and the injured woman was an innocent bystander.
The crowd dispersed but what happened a few minutes later left eye witnesses in shock and disgust.
A witness in the queue had finished work for the night and stopped off for a kebab. He said that a car pulled up outside the kebab shop and three men came in with sewer rods and started ‘beating all round them’.
One man focused his attention on the young woman. He is said to have rained a number of punches on her head and body. So much so that he punched her through the window of the takeaway where she sustained a number of injuries.
The witness and another man inside the kebab shop pulled the man off the woman and he managed to escape along with the other two men. Customers inside the take away gave first aid and kept the woman conscious and distracted from what had just happened. They said that it took twenty minutes for an ambulance to come for the woman who had lost a lot of blood and was in a very shaken state.
A description of the attackers and the car they were in was given to the PSNI.
